Inspiring the Next Generation
Fellow friends and classmates….great Anthonians!
Some months ago, on October 24, 2019 to be precise, the first post was made on the WhatsApp group of SASS Old students association, 1990 set.
I had a dream in my heart, it was a dream to bring as many former classmates together as possible, who shared and believed in this dream. The dream is to positively impact the lives of students at our alma mater through mentoring, scholarships, and capital projects. And in addition, they seek to improve the welfare and well-being of each other as old school mates and friends.
Since the day this great association was birthed, we have journeyed many miles together, sometimes on the terrain. And I believe there are many more strides we will take together triumphantly by the grace of God. Click here to join us on this laudable journey. ‘Reach out Committee’
Today, after a painstaking effort by our hard-working project committee in visiting the school and identifying the challenges facing the school, I am honored to table three (3) most favored projects out of the many suggested for our NEXT LEVEL towards fulfilling our dream and purpose for this wonderful St Anthony’s Secondary School (SASS) old students association, 1990 set.
Renovation of dilapidated classrooms to a standard that allows for conducive and healthy learning within the school. It would not be easy to do this in one day but we can continually support this project and make it happen, one classroom block at a time! To begin with, two (2) blocks/classrooms have been recommended for selection from the Senior Secondary School and another two (2) from the Junior Secondary School. This will give us a total of four (4) classroom blocks to start with. With the support of friends and well-wishers, we believe we can set up a programme to schedule these renovation projects and complete them in a timely fashion.
Supporting the completing and equipping of the uncompleted Biology Laboratory which currently stands abandoned due to lack of funds. There is another gaping need to renovate the existing and old science laboratories in the school but the eyesore of the uncompleted Biology lab needs an urgent attention. See some photos from previous visit to the school.
Provisions of Scholarships for overall best Male and Female graduating students from the Junior Secondary School to further their Senior Secondary Education. The scholarships shall be limited to furthering their education in SASS.
We will make this as an annual and publicized event which we hope will inspire the next batch of students, particularly JSS1 students, to work harder at their studies and gain the recognition our awards will bring to them.
If we have the capacity to do more, we will look to extend the scholarship program to the senior secondary school and include all the classes – ART, COMMERCIAL & SCIENCE classes. Please contact any of the project committee members, if you want to discuss supporting a scholarship award for SASS. Thank you.
Our idea of this scholarship scheme is such that, in the long run, we would be contributing directly to improving the general academic performance of the students and inspiring them from day 1. We also want to create a culture of giving back to society for the good of everyone.
As we work on the modalities of raising funds towards our desired project(s) we would also be well aware of the needs of our members. To this end, a welfare committee has been formed to take care of the needs of such members that are struggling or in a tight place financially. We are all one body and together everyone achieves more. Please feel free to reach out to the welfare committee if you can help in anyway.
We would continue to update you as we carry out our vision for this association. We employ you to partner with us financially and materially to achieve these goals. We hope our friends and well-wishers will support us fully in this too.
God bless you. God bless St Anthony’s Secondary School.
